In the twelfth part of Paradise Lost, Archangel Michael shares with Adam the story of humanity after the Fall. He talks about the cycle of empires rising and falling, the emergence of different religions, and the eventual redemption of mankind through Jesus Christ's sacrifice.

Michael starts by telling the tale of Nimrod, a powerful hunter who tries to build a tower to heaven against God's will. God intervenes, causing confusion among the builders by giving them different languages. This leads to the division of humanity and their scattering across the world.

The narrative then turns to Abraham, chosen by God to uphold the divine covenant. Despite challenges faced by Abraham's descendants like Jacob and Joseph, their faith in God remains unshaken.

Next is the story of the Israelites' enslavement in Egypt, where Moses becomes their leader, guiding them out of oppression and delivering the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai. These commandments serve as a moral guide and a reminder of God's presence.

Michael predicts the arrival of the Messiah, the Son of God, who will redeem humanity through his life, ministry, and sacrificial death on the cross. The angel also foretells the Messiah's resurrection, ascension, and the establishment of his kingdom on Earth, ensuring eternal salvation for those who accept his sacrifice.

Finally, Michael prepares to lead Adam and Eve out of Eden, cautioning them about the challenges they will face. Yet, he assures them of God's constant grace and mercy. As they leave, Adam and Eve carry the knowledge of God's plan for redemption, offering hope beyond the Fall.
