List
of Characters
From
La Grande et la Petite Manœuvre by Arthur Adamov:
Erich
– The central character; physically disabled, passive, and increasingly
dependent on others.
The
Woman (often seen as the dominating caretaker figure) – Exercises control over
Erich under the guise of care and protection.
The
Instructor / Authority Figure – Represents discipline, order, and the
enforcement of the “manoeuvre.”
Assistants
/ Attendants – Secondary figures who help carry out instructions and reinforce
control over Erich.
Other
Minor Figures – Various individuals who appear briefly, contributing to the
atmosphere of authority, confusion, and repetition.
Note:
As is typical in the works of Arthur Adamov, several characters are less
individualized and function more as symbolic or functional roles within the
structure of the play rather than fully developed realistic personalities.
